Meet Our Team

Shelley Fritz, co-owner of Nebraska Ballroom Dance, has taught dance and competed professionally since 1984. She opened her first studio, Brackhan Dance Directive, in 1994, and expanded seven years later when she opened The DelRay Ballroom in a renovated warehouse in the Historic Haymarket.

She has received numerous teaching and performing awards, including Top Teacher in both the Midwest and Northwest Regions, 1st Place in the Fred Astaire Midwest Regional Championships, and she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance with an emphasis in Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

With her wide range of dance knowledge she has been fortunate to perform and compete nationally. She has also taught the joy and love of dance to children and teens in both her ballroom and the public schools. She is most happy, however, having a ballroom where she can encourage dance to flourish in the Lincoln community.

Tim Aksamit

Timothy Aksamit, instructor at Nebraska Ballroom Dance, originally discovered his love for dance after he was taken to a country dance night. Since then he has continued to broaden his dance knowledge to Ballroom, Latin and Swing dances. His desire to share his passion brought him to teaching dance, part time, with his first instructor Shelley Fritz.

Tim performed and competed in Amateur competitions throughout his early 20’s.  Wherever he was, the Midwest, East Coast or England, he continued to grow his knowledge of partnership dancing. His passion for learning continues as he seeks further certification through the Professional Dance Vision International Dance Association.

Throughout his years some of Tim’s favorite memories revolve around social dancing. Through teaching he hopes to bring this enjoyment to more people. Rather than seeing teaching as another job, Tim sees it as an opportunity to explore and share his favorite passion.

Sarah Pritchard, co-owner of Nebraska Ballroom Dance, started dancing at the age of 12 in 2007, after many years of both social and competitive ballroom dancing she decided to change her passion for ballroom dance into a career and pursue a life as a dance instructor.

Sarah holds a Full Associate’s certification in American Style dance with ProDVIDA, the Professional Dance Vision International Dance Association.

Teaching a wide range of students both social and competitive, she enjoys most helping students to achieve those “lightbulb” moments and watching them grow in their dancing.
