Meet Our Team

Shelley Fritz, owner of Nebraska Ballroom Dance, has taught dance and competed professionally since 1984. She opened her first studio, Brackhan Dance Directive, in 1994, and expanded seven years later when she opened The DelRay Ballroom in a renovated warehouse in the Historic Haymarket.

She has received numerous teaching and performing awards, including Top Teacher in both the Midwest and Northwest Regions, 1st Place in the Fred Astaire Midwest Regional Championships, and she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance with an emphasis in Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

With her wide range of dance knowledge she has been fortunate to perform and compete nationally. She has also taught the joy and love of dance to children and teens in both her ballroom and the public schools. She is most happy, however, having a ballroom where she can encourage dance to flourish in the Lincoln community.

Wyatt Dybdal, instructor at Nebraska Ballroom Dance, began his journey with partner dancing in 2014 when he joined the University of Nebraska Ballroom Dance Club. Having fond memories of watching Dancing With the Stars with his family, Wyatt took a chance auditioning for the performance team, and then spent the next 10 years performing and improving his skills. His love of dance led him to Nebraska Ballroom Dance for the opportunity to continue learning and sharing the joy of dance with others.

Wyatt spent 10 years performing choreographed Ballroom performances, as well as volunteering his time to teach free dance classes for the UNL Ballroom Dance Club. He continues to seek out opportunities to expand his knowledge through seminars, workshops and certification through the Professional Dance Vision International Dance Association.

Many of Wyatt’s closest friendships have come from his love of dance, and his enthusiasm for sharing that passion with others. As an Instructor, Wyatt hopes to encourage others to explore the many opportunities that lie within the world of dance. Nothing makes him more excited than sharing stories with friends and students about their various experiences dancing.
